The CW surprised many this morning when the announcement came that they’re looking to start another DC Comic TV series, starring The Flash. Since then we’ve learned that the character will be introduced in the upcoming season of Arrow and the network is still mulling over the spin-off potential of the character.
We also know that Arrow writers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg and DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns are writing a script for the pilot and that David Nutter, director of the Arrow pilot, could direct The Flash pilot.
A few more updates have come along since then (via Deadline) including word that the character is set to appear in the 8th or 9th episode in the upcoming season of Arrow, and casting is expected to begin this week.
„Barry Allen’s story always has been a favorite of mine,“ Berlanti said, „as well as of Andrew Kreisberg and Geoff Johns. We wanted everyone to know about the show as that process commenced. We think it fits well both in terms of Arrow and as a stand-alone series.“
