Hi everyone,
So I`m writing this paper on Dexter, my argument is roughly sth. like: the audience takes to Dexter because he is likeable, sympathy brought about by three reasons. First of all, he follows a certain heroic code. Further, he is a family man. Lastly, the voice overs providing further insight into his mind.
The “umbrella” linking these three points together, being that he is an everyday normal guy like you and me.
So what I need to do is to find evidence in the show to support these claims. And in order to make the paper more interesting I really want to include the best scenes that prove my point. I want to convince the professor reading this paper that Dexter is one of the best shows out there. I was thinking about 2 or 3 scenes per supporting point. I would have to analyze them and link `em back to the argument.
The supporting points: heroic code, family man, voice overs.
As far as Dexter being a family man is concerned I was thinking of one scene in season 6 where Dexter is looking for a good kindergarten for Harrison (can`t remember the episode) or a good scene where we can see that he cares about his family (Rita, Cody, Astor, Deb doesn`t matter who nor does season or episode)
Heroic code: for instance the scene in season 3 where he kills Miguel Prado`s little brother and feels really bad about it or another scene where we can see that he values certain moral ideals (related to the code)
Voice overs: any memorable voice over that makes him appear likeable or a person we can identify with… In one episode he attended a class reunion which I think was quite funny
It has been quite a while since I`ve seen the first seasons and therefore, I can`t really remember anything in detail. That`s why I am looking for help here. So if anyone feels like contributing feel free to. Any scene related to the above supporting points will do. If you do so, I would be happy if you could include season, episode and starting time of the scene. If you want you can give a short description of the scene or why you find striking about it, that`s only if you want, after all it`s me who has to do the writing. Thank youIhr könnt gerne auf Deutsch antworten

Eigentlich zeigt Dexter diese Eigenschaften in fast jeder Folge.
