ADAM: Well, wait you must, it seems. „We’ve got 22 episodes to do it,“ says executive producer Kelly Souders. „[Clark] has a few more obstacles and lessons to learn. When you look at the show right now, he’s definitely not the Superman — the bright light, the inspirational guy — that he will be by the end of the season. He’s still in sort of a dark hour. Smallville executive producer Kelly Souders tells me „by the end of episode 3, Oliver’s life is going to change forever.“ Uh oh. Might that mean that’s the episode in which Smallville finally rights DC Comics lore and does away with the character of Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack), who isn’t a series regular this season? Could be, which would open the door to a romance between Oliver’s Green Arrow and Black Canary, two super friends who end up together in the comics. Says Souders, „They’re very fun together, but we’re big Chlollie fans.“ Souders also told me she recently sent Michael Rosenbaum a dozen red roses and a private note in an attempt to sway him back as Lex Luthor before the series ends. „Nothing would be more exciting for us than to write for him again.“

What can you tell me about the returns of Brainiac and Supergirl on Smallville? — Jeff
ADAM: James Marsters returns as Brainiac 5, who, despite being a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes in the comic books, executive producer Kelly Souders describes as „a slippery fish“ with a questionable moral compass. ADAM: As we previously reported, Chloe will give herself up in a trade to save Oliver, who was taken in the season finale. That will keep Chloe off-screen and give Oliver lots to do as he searches for her. Or will it? „Hunting [for her] may not really be a good thing He’s got to weigh that decision,“ executive producer Brian Peterson tells us.
