Interview mit Executive Producer/Writer Noah Hawley, in dem es auch um eine mögliche zweite Staffel von „Fargo“ geht:
What would a second season of Fargo look like?
HAWLEY: It would look like a new movie, really. I really liked that when FX said, “We want to do Fargo. We’re wondering if you can do it without any of the characters from the movie.” I liked the idea that it was just a story that felt like that story, but actually had no connection to it. And then, as you get deeper into it, you found that there was a connection […] You realize that, “Wait a minute, this story is tangentially connected to the movie.” I think that’s really fun. So, if we were to do it again, you would see a new movie with new characters, but one might have some connection, either to the first season or to the original movie, just hopefully not in a way that you can predict or expect.
Do you already have ideas for another season?
HAWLEY: I have some thoughts on what we could do that I think would be really great. My feeling is that all the pieces that we put in motion are paying off, and I’m really happy with that. I don’t want to just have an idea for how it starts. I need to have an idea for how it ends because it starts and ends in the same season. You can’t fake it until you make it. You have to start out knowing exactly where you’re going.
FARGO Interview: Noah Hawley Talks Story and Possible Second Season
8. Januar 2015 um 21:45 Uhr #491800StampedeMitgliedDie Produktion beginnt am 19.Januar 2015 und das ist die Synopsis der zweiten Staffel:
The all new “true crime” case of Fargo’s new chaptertravels back to 1979 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Luverne, Minnesota, where a young State Police Officer “Lou Solverson” (Wilson), recently back from Vietnam, investigates a case involving a local crime gang and a major Mob syndicate. Helping him piece things together is his father-in-law, “Sheriff Hank Larsson” (Danson). The investigation will lead them to a colorful cast of characters that includes “Karl Weathers” (Nick Offerman), the town lawyer of Luverne, Minnesota. A Korean War vet, Karl is a flowery drunk blessed with the gift of gab and the eloquence of a true con artist. Three-time Emmy winner Brad Garrett will play “Joe Bulo,” the front man for the northern expansion of a Kansas City crime syndicate. The new face of corporate crime, Joe’s bringing a Walmart mentality to small town America. His number two is “Mike Milligan” (Bokeem Woodbine). Part enforcer, part detective, Mike is always smiling – but the joke is usually on you. Bulo and his crew have their sights set on the Gerhardt crime family in Fargo, currently led by matriarch “Floyd Gerhardt” (Smart). With her husband at death’s door, Floyd takes over the family business, frustrating her eldest son, “Dodd Gerhardt” (Jeffrey Donovan). An impatient hothead with a cruel streak to match his ambitions, Dodd can’t wait for both his parents to die so he can take over and expand their business from kingdom to empire. “Bear Gerhardt” (Angus Sampson) is the middle son, an intimidatingly large man who, although inarticulate, is the most decent of his clan. “Rye Gerhardt” (Kieran Culkin), the youngest of the Gerhardt clan, views himself as a big shot, but in reality he’s just a small dog who barks big.
Fargo: Season 2 Casts Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson, and Jean Smart
19. Januar 2015 um 14:05 Uhr #492154StampedeMitgliedLandgraf said that Season 2 is more comedic than Season 1, but still very serious at times. He called it „big, sprawling, [and] incredibly ambitious,“ noting that he’s loved the scripts he’s seen.
As you may recall, Fargo Season 2 will be set in 1979 and feature a younger Lou Solverson; Patrick Wilson will star, putting a more youthful face on the role originated by Keith Carradine in Season 1. The new story will begin a few years after Lou has returned from the Vietnam War, and will be set against the backdrop of Ronald Reagan’s first campaign for president. Reagan will actually be featured as character, and focus on „some of the movies he’s reputed to have made.“ Season 2 will also focus on feminism and the cultural transformation that was taking place in America at the time.
