If you’re worried for the lives of Mycroft, Lestrade, or Mary, you can stop. The “significant death” may refer to Sherlock’s. He is shot, in the chest, and apparently flatlines at one point. While he’s flatlining, he apparently enters an altered state similar to his Mind Palace. It is for John that he fights his way back to the land of the living, as he does not want to put John through that kind of pain again if he can possibly avoid it.
The “heartwarming moment” between Sherlock and Mycroft occurs after Sherlock is on the mend. Mycroft tells Sherlock it would break his heart to lose him. Sherlock is as shocked by this admission as he was by John telling him he is his best friend.
It is Mary who shoots Sherlock. The person who was relating the spoilers was annoyingly coy and refused to confirm whether or not Mary is a villian here; she did say, however, that, while Mary knew she was shooting Sherlock (it was not a mistake), she did it because she “had to” and it “made sense.” (No idea what that means.) The “spoiler” also said she felt “sorry for mary”
Mary does not lose the baby. The baby is not born during this episode, but by the end of the episode Mary is “very pregnant.”Mary is heavily involved with CAM, but the person giving out the spoilers was once again very cagey and refused to share any part of Mary’s story, whether or not she’s good or bad, or what this episode meant (if anything) for Mary’s relationship with John. She would confirm only that Mary’s past was “hugely important.”
Janine (the maid of honor) works for CAM. It is she who poses as Sherlock’s lover a la the original ACD story. Sherlock does start taking drugs again, apparently in an attempt to draw CAM’s attention (he’s hoping CAM will try to blackmail him). The s p o i l e r indicated this does not work.
. The Holmes parents make another appearance. There is a cliffhanger – something involving a plane(?). It is not a “Great Game” style cliffhanger; that is, it won’t cut us off in the middle of a scene, but it’s a cliffhanger nonetheless.
AA apparently took on the role of Mary, in part, because she would, at some point, get to “die in John’s arms.” (Why the actress would want to do that is beyond me.) That does not happen in series 3, however12.
Ach, egal. Ich werd’s ja gleich sehen.
